Classmate Memorials

FRIENDS

I look around me
and see all my friends,
hear their voices and
their laughter through the years.

They move not as quickly
nor quite as spryly
as they did long ago.
Wasn’t it just yesterday?

I now walk where once I ran.
My hair (Where did all that gray come from?)
isn’t quite as black as it once was.

My friends and I sit and talk
of yesterday, and as we sit,
children come and call to them
saying, “Grandfather! Grandfather!”

And as we talk I think of friends
that now I see only in memory,
only in my heart;
For they have had to travel on.

Their laughter, their tears,
their hopes and their fears
have all passed on,
but as long as we remember them,
they are near.

Linda graduated from Fair Park High School in 1961 and will be leaving many FP friends who have celebrated frequent reunions together over the years. Ms. Foster worked in the banking industry for 20 years and served 13 years in the Navy Reserves obtaining the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class. She lived in Pecos, Texas for 14 years with the last 30 years being in Shreveport, prior to moving to Bossier City 2 years ago with her mother. Ms. Foster's mother passed away 3 months ago.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Eddie L. and Jean Scott of Shreveport, and her pet and companion for 10 years, Marsh. She is the first grandchild of seven from Willie and A.O. Vick of Star City, AR to be deceased.

She is survived by one son, Brian Foster and wife Adriana of San Angelo, TX; one sister, Betty Nelson and husband Bob of Bossier City; two grandchildren Zachry Foster, age 14 of Midland, TX and four-month old Adrian Foster of San Angelo, TX; one niece, Vicki Nelson Cusimano and husband Mark of Metairie, LA; and one nephew, Brad Nelson of Bossier City; and her loving pet, "Buddy."

Linda retired under disability suffering from emphysema for many years, as did her father. Both were smokers for over 30 years. We hope those reading this obituary who are smokers will heed the dangers of smoking with its deadly consequences. Linda will be greatly missed by her caring and loving ways by family and friends, but we believe her life on this earth would have been longer had she not started smoking at an early age.

Mrs. Foster often donated money and items to the Providence House of Shreveport, and we know she would rather for you to do the same in lieu of flowers.
